review 1: This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and I had trouble putting it down. The focus on the personal experience with dementia was fascinating. I feel that I have so much more insight now into this devastating condition. The strong women in this book (Jennifer and Amanda) were realistic, intriguing and true to my experience of what it is like to be a daughter, wife and mother. Not so much what they were going through, but their feelings, their loyalties and their personal convictions.
review 2: I'm weirdly ambivalent about this book. It's better written than Still Alice, in which a college professor chronicles her descent into Alzheimers. But it's not as compelling as either Before I Go To Sleep, a mystery with a memory-challenged central character, or
... more the The Housekeeper and the Professor, which also has a central character with memory loss. The short "paragraphs" and shifting time periods helped illustrate what it might be like to like with Alzheimers, but took awhile to adjust to. less
