review 1: **I received an ARC from the author for an honest review**I read Allie Brennan's first book Tight Knit and fell in love with her writing. When I finished that book I searched for any other work by her an discovered Under The Dusty Sky. The blurb excited me and I couldn't wait to read it, so when the opportunity came to read and review this book I jumped at the chance. Literally, I was jumping up and down. I was not disappointed.Under The Dusty Sky is not your usual uniform YA novel. Fifteen year old Graceland Holloway doesn't believe in love just memories. Her mom left when she was little and she blames herself. "'Just you. You’re the only one in the world who can’t be in love.'She looks right at me, her eyes so scared and unfocused it gives me that same feeling a... mores before. To wrap her up inside of me and keep her there, as part of me.'Not if I want them to stay.'"Since then she has grown up in a houseful if men that give in to her, and shes used to getting what she wants. "I bat my long lashes and Daddy melts. Like always. I remind him of Mom. I look like her and I use it when I need to."So when Bentley Mckinna arrives to work on the farm for the summer she comes up with a plan to lose her virginity and create a 'perfect memory'. "I had it all planned out. This was going to be easy. Boys are always easy.Bentley isn't a boy. Not like I'm used to."Eighteen year old Bentley just wanted to get away for the summer. He wasn't expecting the spitfire that is Gracie, but he can't seem to help himself. He likes to fix things, and quickly finds that Gracie is very broken. "She definitely doesn’t seem her age though. There is something about her that makes her older. Something in her eyes and how focused they are."He tries his best to stay away and break his habit but the pull to Gracie is hard to resist. He wants to help her. "I've been here for less than 24 hours, and this is the most intense girl I've ever met."Their story is complex and at times heart breaking. You really feel for them and just want things to work out for them. The secondary characters are usually just background filler but you really come to care for Gracie's best friend Lacy and Bentley's sister Sasha. The story moved along at a decent and believable pace, and the ending kinda leaves you hanging, but in a good way. Making room for an epilogue or for the reader to make their own HEA, which I like. You can only read so many stories before you start to guess what happens in the first two chapters. Can't wait for more Holloway Farms novels by Allie Brennan!!
review 2: Cute story....a quick read! Deeper than I hoped for, but at the same time still so very immature. The writing was great, characters well developed, and the small town southern setting is what made me really love this story! The love shared between this family is touching, and the love story is cute too. Gracie, is still in high school, so you get the young and fun carefree girl, but with that comes the what-the-heck-are-you-thinking-you-idiot moments. But didn't we all have those in high school? All in all, a good summer read!!! Enjoy! less
