review 1: Wendy and Hakiam are from opposite financial classes. She from a rich suburb, he from the ghetto. When they meet at a tutoring session they are drawn to each other. This is not a lovey dovey fest but rather a realistic meeting of two minds who admire each other. I really wanted to find out what happened to the main characters after the story ended. This novel also explores racial tensions between different classes in a very honest manner. Great for a high school book discussion.

... morehave liked to see more nuance in the characters. Also, I didn't see the appeal of the romance element from either characters perspective. So-so. less

I liked it and found that Whittenburg made some very realistic characters.
