This book is about Shai, a Forger that was caught stealing. In exchange for her freedom, she accepts to forge the Emperor’s Soul.
Shai was an outstanding character. I loved her personality and loved to get to know more about her throughout the book.
This book was a fast read and I loved it. I wanted it to be longer but still recommend the book.
Even though I want to know more about Shai, I don’t think Brandon Sanderson will write more about her. Because this is set in the same world as Elantris, he might mention someone in the next Elantris novel. We’ll see.
I already read Elantris (here’s my review) but I don’t think you need to read it to understand the novel. The author only mentioned a few names that aren’t relevant to the story.
If you love fantasy books with interesting magic systems, you should try Elantris and The Emperor’s Soul.
