The Sound of All Things is a powerful story of a young boy who longs to be able to describe sounds to his two deaf parents. During a summer day trip to Coney Island in the 1930s, the family of three enjoys rides, ocean views along the boardwalk, and delicious foods. The father is intrigued by his surroundings and is constantly asking his son to describe the sounds of the roller coasters and crashing waves. The young boy struggles to generate explanations of the sounds he knows his parents wish they could hear. But during a visit to the library, the librarian shows him a book of poetry that beautifully conveys how things sound for him to share with his parents. This book is a true gem and the artwork is a beautifully detailed masterpiece filling each page.
