review 1: Contains some SPOILERS!!!I knew I wasn't going to like this book after the first 20 pages or so. But considering I paid for it I decided to keep on reading - what a complete waste of perfectly good reading time. The Hazards of a One Night Stand was - in one word - terrible! It is badly written, the characters are flat and stupid and the story cannot even be called a stereotyp anymore. It was pure torture. I was shaking my head, rolling my eyes and laughing about the absurd way it all played out. It was just so bad. The leading character Mellaroy (?) was so unlikeable. For one she was just bitchy all the time. Nothing she did make sense. And she was so superficial. Worring about what others might think about her dating someone three months (!!) younger than her and a freshma... moren instead of a seniour like her "super cool" friends. She and Colt were caught on video security having sex and some freshman was able to delete it? how? did he break into the house where the party took place? how did he hack the system? it just not realistic - like at all. And the guys? Tanner and Colt were both so annoying and terrible characters. Neither accepted it when Mellaroy told them she wasn't into them. Just kept twisting her words, not taking her seriously. They all lacked any depth. Mel and Colt did not fall in love, or if they did it happened off page. And let's not forget the dialog. It felt unnatural and weird and half-way through I regretted that I hadn't taken notes on how often they said "cool" - but trust me it was A LOT! And I guess the conversations between M & T or M&C were suppossed to be witty and flirty? Well, they weren't. They were bitchy and annoying and not at all natural. Nobody talks like that! So apart from the terrible characters and stupid story even the dialogs were bad. There is a lot I could say about this book - all bad. So I'll just stop here and try to forget I it. Only this: I regret spending money and time on this. There was absolutely nothing about this book that I liked. It will probably end up on my list of "Top-5 worst books ever". Do not read this book if you are looking for a good story. You will (most likely) be disappointed.
review 2: favorite quotes“‘Only you can decide your worth. Trust me, you can’t let what a guy, even your dad, thinks of you change your self-image.’”“‘What’s his name?’ I figured it couldn’t hurt to share the details. ‘Colton.’ she laughed. ‘Seriously? That’s such a country boy name. Does he let you call him Colt when you ride him?’ ‘So uncalled for. And it was only one time, remember?’ ‘I couldn’t resist.’”why I picked it upI loved the companion novel, The Hazards of Skinny Dipping, and couldn’t wait to hear the story of another couple set in this world.plotThis novel follows small town girl Mallory as she comes back to college after summer break to find that the boy she had a one night stand with back in her small, hick town, is pledging to her sorority’s brother frat. This novel follows Mallory as she comes to terms with what she feels for Colton. It was definitely a humorous novel. It kept me laughing. It was fast paced and kept interesting, although at times that plot was a bit predictable. Regardless, it held my interest throughout its entirety.Leading ladyMallory was the female protagonist. For the first half or so of the novel, I didn’t quite like her. She seemed superficial and fake, with shunning Colton just because he came from her old town. She denied her obvious feelings for a bit too long for me. However, once she came to realize the error of her ways, I enjoyed her character a bit more. She wasn’t the most relatable character that I’ve read, but she certainly wasn’t the worst. She had her good qualities and bad ones.leading maleColton was the love interest. I liked him much more than I like Mallory. He wasn’t about to hide his feelings, no matter what the consequences were, and I found that admirable. He was sweet and funny, and quite the adorable character. He obviously cared for Mallory, and in some cases reminded me of a slightly abused puppy. But he put his foot down when needed, and didn’t let Mallory hide forever.other charactersWe see quite a bit of Juliet and Reed in this novel, as Mallory is roomies with Juliet and Colt is pledging to Reed’s frat. I really enjoyed seeing them in this novel, and i realized just how much I missed them. Unfortunately, I enjoyed them more and they kind of took away the limelight from Mallory and Colton.romance“‘I want to be with you, Colt. Is that what you needed to hear?’ This was ridiculous. Did I really want him badly enough that I was willing to put up worth his antics? Yes. The answer was yes. When I was with him,’ all my worries about my future, Dad, Gasden and everything else disappeared. I just needed him close.”This romance starts with a one night stand. Then the classic, ‘oh it was a mistake’ and trying to ignore that it happened on the girl’s side, and the boy taking it to heart and trying to pursue the girl. Unfortunately, I’ve seen it before, so it didn’t have the element of individuality. Regardless, Ivy is capable of taking even a slightly cliche romance and turning it into something more, which is exactly what she did with this novel. It was steamy when needed, serious when needed, and just an overall enjoyable romance to read.conclusionA fantastic mix of romance and drama, The Hazards of a One Night Stand was one of those lighter romances that you can’t help but enjoy. less

If I read Colton in another story I would skip right over him. There was nothing interesting about him. He was not developed at all. He only wanted to be with Mallory and even though he kept saying that he wanted more from her the sex was always an added bonus. I knew nothing about his past, his future, or even his present. He was just a guy in a story. I think I'm disappointed with this story. I had such high hopes for it but I was let down. I didn't like Mallory either. She had issues that didn't make sense. She was from a small town that she never left until she went to college. Her father may have been a big deal but I wouldn't have automatically assumed she came from money just because of who her father was. They didn't live int he same city and he had not been there in at least 8 years so why would anyone come to the conclusion that she had money. The theory that Tanner only wanted her for more money was weak. They didn't click end of story. To throw him in while she was visiting her father was flimsy. I liked the plot but I thought a lot more could have been done with it maybe more drama.

OMG... I wanted to slap that girl! I had been wanting to read this book for a while. So I finally dove in and man it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I loved Colton, thought he was a great character. Mallory was a different story altogether. Mallory was more concerned that he was 3months younger than her. The girl defiantly had father issues. That being said I had moments where I was laughing but I just couldn't get past the main characters flaws.
