review 1: I always loved Amanda Ashley books. They are all mixed with great humor, heartbreaks and happily ever afters and this book was no exception. I loved Daisy, she made such a great heroine. I was glad she put her indifference aside to be with Erik. Rhys made a great secondary character and i can't wait to read his book. I was also hoping Alex would end up being with a vamp girl just to stick it too him. :D This was a great read and would recommend it to anyone.
review 2: sometimes I wonder about the books people like.If you have read Sookie Stackhouse, no need to read this. This is basically Sookie without the unecessary charm and character development. And hotness. Only Sookie is antisocial and is helping her family kill vampires while she's dating one. While obli
... moreviously living the worst possible manifestation of a prejudice, this vampire killing family is repeatedly injured, rescued by the vampire boyfriend (who never takes her to task for attempting to murder his friends). Only the vampire has any common sense, so someone gets hurt. Since the killer was a vampire, she blames the boyfriend. This is not a book to revive your faith in humanity...or the future of fiction.I think the author was trying to paint Daisy as being justified in her vampire hunting because vampires are evil killers. But what sort of person falls in love with an evil killer, and yet manages to hold on to the stereotype without questioning it at all? Wouldn't there be a question that maybe the vampire you're plunging a stake into is actually a nice one like the one you were making out with an hour before? Anita Blake focuses on the bad guys, but there is no sign that these guys are- they are just driving around with a magic compass killing anything they find and selling its blood. These are the supposed good guys?To top it off, the writing is really mediocre. There are several pages devoted to debating something that had been confirmed openly several chapters earlier (whether the bad guy had tasted Daisy's brother). The characters are shallow and unintelligent. Unlike Sookie, Daisy doesn't seem like she'd ensnare anyone in her spell. Overall, not a good book. The market foe this book is people who do not put much thought into what they are reading. less
