review 1: * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * A Dark Road by Amanda Lance. When I was offered the chance to review this book, I said ok let’s see what Amanda Lance has written for us. Well she did not disappoint me. This book sounded dark and gritty. You also get a glimpse into the seedy world of illegal drugs. It was hard for me to rate this book because it was well written and I did enjoy it, it just wasn’t my kind of book. This book is a love story that is sweet, easy going, and funny. I will tell you that I did cry the ending was really sad.Hadley is a lonely confused girl looking for friends. Hadley Grayson just moved to town her senior year. In addition, she's not happy about it. Hadley is a champion fencer and her new school doesn't offer the sport. Sadly, ... morethis was the only thing that kept her sane. There's nothing whatsoever appealing about her new hometown. Then Hadley lays eyes on James McKay and maybe, just maybe, he may make it all worthwhile.James McKay just wants to get out of the town he grew up in and how does he do by selling meth. He is a lonely confused boy trying to survive the best way he knows how.James motto is stay away from people and don’t let anyone get close, keep your head down, and your mouth shut. In doing so, he's alienated himself from everybody. He was lonely.James tries to avoid becoming friends with Hadley, they actually become good friends but they are instantly drawn to each other.Hadley is the only person who gets him the most and she calls him James not McKay. You could also tell when she kept calling him James that he was different boy. He owned up to his mistake and tried to better himself. Will he change for her? Will he stop cooking and selling drugs for her? Will he be caught by the police? Read this book and you will find out!!!!I recommend this book, but please have some Kleenex next to you!!!!Written by Tracy for Summer’s Book Blog.
review 2: A Dark Road by Amanda Lance is a ver touching, true to life story. James McKay is a very lonely confused boy trying to survive the best way he knows how. Hadley Grayson is a very lonely confused girl looking for friends in a new town and school. They are instantly drawn to each other. Although James tries to avoid it, he and Hadley become good friends. She is leading him down the right road for his future. Unfortunately, James has been cooking Meth for his father and some students at school. With one student overdosing James is sure to be found out. It is truly a warm touching story that most people can relate to. A must read. less
