review 1: I fell in love with the cover of this book first something about her eyes drew me in. I then read the blurb and I was hooked. I had to know more I had to learn about those blue eyes and why this story had totally sucked me in. As I began to read I am introduced to Vivienne (Vee) and Zach. They have been together for quite awhile and play off of one another very well. To be honest the concept of this story scares the living daylights out of me has it is a very realistic possibility in our world. Not a subject that I want to think of as a reality. This is part of what had me hooked about Waterproof is that it deals with a very real problem that could someday be a reality. Kind of makes you think. I was beginning to get completely engrossed into the story. The group of desert... moreers as they are called is attacked leaving the remaining few to try and get them out of the governments factory before it's to late! Vee and Zack are part of the deserters and they do have a history together and somewhere between the battling and surviving they fall in love. Sometimes love finds us in the worst possible of times. It doesn't matter to them they are bound to make it work for them. As they work to rescue the others and avoid being caught themselves. Only to be left wondering who to trust. They only ever relied on each other and now their lives are turned completely upside down, tattered and torn at the seems with the most critical decisions facing them trust the wrong person and it all is over. Waterproof is told from two POV's and at first had me confused but I figured t out fairly quick and in the end thought it was great being able to know more than one person's thoughts on the matter and ii personally thought it made for a better story. Amber Garr did an excellent job with this story her writing was so detailed and thought provoking leaving me wondering if this water scare become a very true reality for us someday. I enjoyed reading Waterproof and would recommend it to anyone!
review 2: This novel was provided through Goodreads giveaway, thanks! I enjoyed the unique plot line of this novel and how it was a more accurate portrayal of the female character -- someone who can be strong, and also soft, yet not pathetically so. This definitely is a book for an older crowd, due to the few sex scenes and curse words, but this was actually refreshing to read in comparison to some of the teeny bopper drivel I've read as of late. I wish the author had described the world of Oasis One in a bit more detail, but maybe that will be upcoming in the following novel. I felt the ending was a bit rushed since there was so much buildup, but it did leave off at a good point for a sequel. Overall, I enjoyed this novel and would be open to reading the next one by Amber Garr. less
