review 1: I hated the king. Rot in hell you self centre ice queen. fuck you. I still cannot believe she forgave him. I mean come on! He never believed you when you said you were attacked. You get bloody sold when he kicked you out. How dare he then ask for your hand in marriage. He may not mean it but every time he turned his back on her she always suffers. EVERYBLOODYTIME! Even the other servants knew it was ridicules about the way he is treating her.
review 2: I love the Beauty and the Beast fairytale. I'm not sure why, because I am not a "Beauty" type, nor would I put up with the crap she's always getting from the "Beast", but I seem to be on a compulsive quest to find a truly satisfying version of the tale. Unfortunately I have yet to find it. (Btw, any and all sug... moregestions for my search are welcome.)This book started out a little slow, but then it got really good. For the first two thirds of the book, I was sure I'd finally found the perfect B&B retelling. But alas, as most B&B retellings go, it eventually fell short. I did enjoy it, but the story really unraveled by the end. There wasn't enough of a foundation for the love story, especially after all the "beast" had put "beauty" through. She forgave too quickly. He never really did anything to earn her love. And yet, there were some truly magical moments that if the author would've just kept going with those, it could've been just . . . well . . . dreamy. That being said, the tone of this book, and the world building was very nice. It's been a few days since I read it and I still find myself wanting to go curl up by the fire in the Cold King's castle. less
