review 1: A cutesy story which manages not to be too corny with the addition of a good dollop of humour. The protagonist, Abir, is a journalist on the crime beat, a little disillusioned with his job (mostly following the police log). That all changes when one of his contacts pulls him into a messy series of events. As a former journalist, I really related to Abir in some ways- the constant procrastinating and the late nights, for instance, were quite familiar to me. Still, it veered a little too close to chick lit territory for my taste. That said, this is a good light read, you can finish it in just a couple days. In other words, a good beach/holiday read. Despite the simple story, I found myself wanting to read on past the middle, even rooting for the journalist. Also, as mentioned... more earlier, it really is quite funny, and that helps balance out the sickly-sweetness quite a bit.
review 2: In this book (if it can be called one), a crime reporter happens to be at the scene of a fake encounter. Soon, he ends up being commissioned by his bosses to do a piece on the encounter by interacting with the victim's daughter. By the time the plot reaches this stage, 70% of the book is over. The rest 30% is spent in the coffee shop and his room where she ends up living. The end mercifully comes soon! less

a very easy read -- I liked the author's shameless plugs for his own blog in this, his first novel.
