review 1: We Are All Born Free is a book about how each person should be have equal rights and be free. I do feel the need to address topics such as this at an early age for young children. The topics include freedom, safety, knowledge, friendships, etc. The book covers the basics of certain problems and uses illustrations to show happiness people have when having these freedoms. The illustrations are very colorful and add much needed visual aspect for the young readers.This is not a type of book that a child should read on his/her own. I feel the only way this book will be effective is if a teacher/peer reads this out loud to them. This way the child can ask questions and get information and knowledge as needed. These are important topics to everyone, but should be addressed... more by a positive minded adult. The only part of the book I did not like was the part about laws because I felt a political vibe from the book, but besides that a children can learn and take a lot by this book if it is read and taught correctly.
review 2: I will admit that I checked this book out because David Tennant wrote the forward. I am sometimes a very silly fan girl. But I really did appreciate what they were doing with the effort and it is delightful. I appreciate being exposed to new artists, some of whom I really love as I have investigated their work beyond this book. I will be reading this over with my children and perhaps even my scholar project to have a discussion (or debate) on each of these declarations. less
