Disney2017 – Part 3

Our third day at the parks didn’t start out like we thought. G wasn’t feeling well and the Paxter had had enough walking around, so they didn’t join us. They stayed home and so L and GamerBoy and the four of us made our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

None of us had been to this park before, but we were looking forward to some Star Wars fun. The day started with L and GamerBoy going to see Muppet Vision 3D (although I’m not sure GamerBoy even knows who the Muppets are) and the four of us going to For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.

I must admit, while I enjoyed the sing-along, I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the Frozen characters on stage the entire time. I think I expected them to be there, singing with us. I mean, Ana was there more than anyone else, and then Kristoff and then Elsa, but again, I didn’t expect it to be us singing to movie scenes on the screen. The girls really enjoyed that Elsa made it “snow” (with soap bubbles) in the theatre at the end of the show, so overall it was a nice show.

Once that was complete, we met up with L and GamerBoy to watch the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! By this time, we’ve concluded that the kids don’t know who Indiana Jones is, and so we’re pumping it up to be fun and exciting. And it was. But it was long and the girls didn’t exactly rank it as their top attraction. It was good to sit, away from the heat for a bit, and so we took it for what it was.

As we made our way out of that, it was time for lunch. For the last two days, we have listened to the Little Mouse proclaim that she wanted pizza. Of course, the restaurants and quick services places we passed along the way didn’t have pizza. Thankfully the My Disney Experience app could allow me to filter my choices and lo and behold, I found a place that served pizza! We made our way to PizzeRizzo and enjoyed some pizza and it was probably the best meal I’d had at the parks all week. We only purchased the passes, not any sort of dining plan, as we were only having lunch at the parks. But food is not cheap, and the selection is not great, so you make do with what you can.

With our bellies full of pizza, and the Little Mouse extremely happy, we made our way over to Pixar Place to go on Toy Story Mania! What a fun ride. The kids loved it! We loved it! We even got to see one of the plastic green army men outside!

So now that all the attractions and rides were out of the way, it was time to indulge in the real reason we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and see some Star Wars stuff! First up, a meet and greet with Kylo Ren and Chewbacca. I decided to wait in line for Chewy, since that line was much longer and the rest of them went to meet Kylo Ren. The crew said he didn’t interact with them, and only stood beside them. Shortly after joining me in line, we got to meet Chewbacca, who friendly – really tall, and hugged everyone!

It was fun to see the kids enjoy meeting him, and then bumping into BB8 and a couple of Jawas. The Little Bird kept saying “Mommy, where is their face?” it was so funny! After looking around the gift shop, we made our way to the centre of the park, but not before catching a glimpse of the March of the First Order, which is probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. The kids were speechless and the crowd was loving seeing all those Storm Troopers.

We finished our day off by watching Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away and it was great! Seeing all our favourite characters, we got some great photos. Of course, the show ends with a few fireworks shot into the air, and we pretty much called it a day, but not before our first official stop in a gift shop for some shopping for the girls.

They ended up picking a four pack of princess dolls each, and seemed very happy to finally have a souvenir from one of the parks.

We ended the day with another dip in the pool, were the Little Mouse worked her nerve up to jump into the water alone, much to the delight of everyone, and herself!
