review 1: Normally I don't read Amish books (aside from the Amish series by Lurlene McDaniel a long time ago), but I saw this displayed at my local library and thought it looked interesting. "Naomi's Gift" is a short and sweet story of a young woman who has had her heart broken a few times and has given up on love, until she meets a widower, Caleb, and his daughter, Susie, who are visiting relatives. The conclusion is pretty much forgone from the very beginning, but the journey is rather nice and gives readers a good look into Amish life. I also liked the natural mixture of German words and phrases throughout the story. If you're wanting a nice new simple Christmas story to read this season, this is it.
review 2: In this novella we are reintroduced to Naomi King who has ... morehad two failed relationships and has already gained a reputation in her small community for going after the guys and Caleb a young widower with a seven year old daughter who is in Bird in Hand, PA visiting his family for the Christmas holidays. The two of them need to learn how to love again and it is sweet how the two of them try not to get attached to each other. This is a sweet Christmas time romance that can be read at any time during the year. less
