review 1: This book was excellent. I think it is a very mature reader for middle school. It would require high interest and upper level reading skills. That said, it was well done, had very interesting theories. It would make a nice GT unit with books like A wrinkle in Time. I also enjoyed hte ending and hope it hints of more to come. I also found it to be seasonally approriate. I will say that it did start a bit slow but I reall liked how it picked up at about page 60 or so.
review 2: It has one of the best opening chapters I can remember reading this year. It's usually more difficult for me to get involved in a middle grade novel, but I was excited to see whether the rest of the book could live up to its initial promise. Sadly, for me, it didn't. There's enough
... moreconflict to go around with the whole unraveling of space and time, there was no need to add in the Solstice angle, with all the old world gods and folk figures. I usually love the latter, but perhaps because I was expecting more Sci Fi than Fantasy, I thought they appeared out of nowhere and slowed down the narrative way too much. less

I really liked this book. Kind of whimsical with the right amount of supernatural thrown in
