review 1: One of those amazing discoveries when browsing in the library, this book is staged in World War 2 in France with a special young lady working in espionage with the Resistance. The author expertly leads you through the intricate story-line, and the characters are so exquisitely constructed that they seem more real than you and I. The characters experience real dangers, real emotions, and real thoughts and dialogues... it's too perfect to be fictional. One of the best books I have read in a long time.
review 2: If I had rated this after I read it - like immediately - I probably would have given it four or maybe even five stars. When I was reading it, I was really engrossed and looked forward to reading it. But then just yesterday someone had asked what I had rece
... morently read and I couldn't remember at all. That's not encouraging. I think the setting was great, and the writing was good - it was entertaining. But it just kind of fell flat on the story, or maybe the ending felt rushed or off. Betty was a cool character, and the others were neat. I really feel like she did her research for the period. And for a while it was really entertaining fast-paced(ish) story. So I definitely think it's worth a shot if you are on the fence about picking up this one. Just don't go into it looking for five-star adventure. less
