review 1: My favorite part of Escape the Doubt was how the author was able to translate her words into feelings. I lived and breathed the emotions with Josh and Riley until I became them. Riley with her insecurities and fears and Josh with his unrelenting love and loyalty. How can I describe Josh so that others can fully grasp what an amazing human being he is? In a world where we want our prince charming but are drawn to the bad boy, Josh was a refreshing REAL person. His qualities weren’t over exemplified. He made mistakes, which only endeared me to him further. And Riley. Her pain was so raw, it hurt me to my core. Her desire to trust and not be able to break from her own prison was beautiful and heartbreaking. The innocence of the young love between two best friends who are only... more just starting to really know who they are and what they’re capable of left me wanting so much more. I can’t wait to read Embrace the Moment!
review 2: What a wonderful story, I absolutely loved it!! This books falls way too close to home, I loved & lost the boy next door. I can totally relate to this story, and the road that Riley & Josh took to tell each other how they really feel. I've been exactly where Riley is, in love with the wonderful, sexy boy next door. Scared out of her ever loving mind to share her feelings, but failing to hid those feelings when she would look at Josh. It was obvious to everyone around them, and it was funny to see the younger siblings of both Riley & Josh give them advice. This is a book of firsts, first love, first kiss, and the first dance of their teenage years. I loved the history between them, and how the author would bring that into the book. Although, this book does have some sad parts as well. Riley feels enormous guilt, regarding an accident that happened when she was younger. This makes her feel like she doesn't deserve to be loved, most especially by Josh.I feel like so much time was wasted between the both of them, if only they had been honest with each other from the beginning they would have had more time together. But, I totally understand and remember how terrifying that was when I was their age. I loved that the book wasn't rushed, it told their story at a wonderful pace so that you can fall in love with them both.My other problem in the book was with Dean & Preslee, I can remember only a handful of times that I actually hated characters in a book. But, with every story there has to be villains to make the story complete.I totally recommend this book to those who love seeing love from the beginning stages, and don't feel rushed through the book. It always makes it bittersweet for those of us who use to love our own boy next door. less
