review 1: I'm having a hard time writing much about this book because I really did not like it and in fact almost stopped reading about 7/8 of the way through. On reflection, I guess I would say that my objection is that it was so testosterone fueled. The writing is fine; the story is preposterous and keeps changing; the editing is flawless. To paraphrase the book jacket: the protagonist is one of the best undercover agents in the world , with the Royal Navy Intelligence (got that? "one of the best in the world"). He finds a body in an alley in New York City and is framed for the murder. No one believes he is innocent and it turns out the murdered is an FBI agent so now our Navy Intel guy is held by them. The Brits won't help him so he has to find the murderer himself. Direct ... morequote here: " But that won't stop a man like Trevellyan. Whoever set him up is going down. Even if it kills him: EVEN" Give this one a miss, unless you're a teenage boy.
review 2: My rating is a little off. I did like the book. The story was good, it was well written, plenty of action and twists along the way to keep you on your toes. However, I hated the ending. Trying to not spoil it for anyone planning on reading it, let's just say it ends with the author telling you what the character is going to do and he leaves it up to you to decide/imagine what happened then. I really haven't read many books like this and I just don't like it. Give me a clear ending, I need closure. Did I enjoy reading the book? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. Just don't hold it against me if you hate the ending like I did. less
