review 1: A quick, cute story about a writer and his long-time lover. My biggest complaint about these ultra-short stories is that they often lack conflict. Grey's story gave me conflict. Yay!When David snaps at Peter (a mood and response I'm sure all writers are familiar with) the noise from the kitchen sounds like David's going to be in trouble when he surfaces from his fictional world. I can't say more without spoilers. It is, after all, a very short story. And, best off all it's free from Rainbow eBooks this weekend. (2/11/11)
review 2: This is a short, very sweet glimpse into Peter and David's lives. They have been together for twenty years, and know each other inside out, but even that doesn't make the little everyday worries and challenges go away. They just know
... morehow to handle them better. SO when David is too distracted by his writing and snaps at Peter's interruption, he knows how to apologize. What I found so wonderful about this short story was the gentle, measured pace, and the love between these two men that practically poured off the page. Not in grand declarations, but in the simple things they did for each other. Their lovemaking reflected that mixture of still-burning passion and intimate knowledge of each other's bodies as well, and I really liked that.If you want a look at an established couple's life, complete with the small tensions that can make living with each other for a long time a challenge, then you should give this short, sweet story ago. less
