review 1: My only quibble with "Mariah the Christmas Moose" occured near the very beginning. Even if I accept the idea that a native of Florida might not have any idea what a moose looks like, would anybody really look at a moose and think "maneater"? In New England, we generally have trouble convincing the tourists that moose are dangerous, because they look...well, kind of goofy.But it is a comedy, after all, and Kyle's terror of the moose in his backyard prompts the 911 call that brings Russ, the hunky policeman, into his life. The rest of the story is a sweet romance, and whenever our two heroes have trouble figuring out their next move, Mariah puts in an appearance to force them together again. It's a cute story and a pleasant read for a winter evening, curled up in front o... moref the fireplace.
review 2: I really liked this cute Christmas story. The setting in Alaska was nice and different, and I could really relate to Kyle's feeling of being perpetually cold (my heating broke two days ago - with subzero Celsius temperatures outside). The moose provided some very nice comic relief.Kyle, an elementary teacher from whose point of view the story is told, was a great character. Not quite believing his luck, he's very tentative when he first meets police officer Russ. They quickly get better acquainted (courtesy of the moose), and when they finally go on their first date it was romantic and hot at the same time.A very fun, entertaining read. less
