review 1: I really enjoyed this book about Theo and Poppa. I loved the relationship Theo has with her grandpa. I love their artist creation of a garden and Theo's creativity and imagination to really put herself in the garden. I like how the illustrations of the patio were mostly black and white with a splash of color to draw your eye to Theo and Poppa, but the illustrations of their painted garden are colorful. I know that some feel that they should have tried harder to grow real plants, and I can see that argument, but I loved their ingenuity and their desire to create beauty in a way that held meaning for them. I can actually see using this book as a model to teach children how to paint flowers. I really loved it!
review 2: I love this book. The drawings are be
... moreautiful and colorful. It is about a girl and her relationship with her grandfather. They used to garden together, but grandpa moves to an apartment and no longer has the space to garden. But he does have a nice balcony where the little girl gets the idea to paint a beautiful garden. A great book that celebrates creativity and teaches a little bit about painting... less
