review 1: An enjoyable and reasonably comprehensive history of the London Underground, for tube geek and tube novice alike. Well-written and engaging, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a passing interest in the tube, or anyone who uses it on a daily basis; sometimes you just need a little knowledge of something to make you despise it less! It may be a little basic for the true tube geek (I already knew some of what was described), but an all-round interesting read.

... moreyable ramble through the history, rumours, myths and byways of the London Underground system; the history is perhaps the weakest part as it doesn't make much sense without maps or a good knowledge of London geography, but the rest is entertainingly portrayed. Passed a pleasant few lunchtimes making my way through this. less

Too much "facts and figures", not enough "quirky anecdotes".
