review 1: Disappointing, and very unsatisfying. The Owly series has reached a point in which repetition has become an issue. Owly has a friend, but a problem. Go to the Plant Nursery. The series needs some new environments, such as Owly getting out of the treehouse and going on a lengthy adventure. Or even something just more than 'Owly's house, Plant Nursery, Owly's yard.' There's plenty of opportunity in this fictional world for more interesting stories than this one.Also, this book is really pushing some creepy binarism. Douchey blue backwards-hat...on a caterpillar? Pink bow = girl? Come on. We don't need such ridiculous presentation for these fantasies of sexual dimorphism.
review 2: This graphic novel is also a wordless picture book. Owly & Wormy decided they want ... moreto plant flowers so butterflies would come and visit them. However when Owly & Wormy return to the flowers all they find are a couple of green bugs. At first they were disappointed but over time they all become best friends. Owly & Wormy are sad when the bugs have to leave. However a they return as beautiful butterflies. The graphic novel is done really well with the bubbles used as communication. The illustration in the book are very colorful. The pictures are large and fill the page. The wordless book allows children to make their own stories with the illustrations. You could use it with any age of children. This could also be used in a science lesson when talking about life cycles. less
