Questions for a Highlander
review 1: GENRE: Romance fiction, Victorian era, Historical romanceSETTING: New York, London, Scotland SYNOPSISShe feels she met the perfect man. He is drawn to her at first sight. Life sends them both in totally different directions only to meet again years later. CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: She moved with her family from affluent America to being a spitfire in high society England during the Victorian era. Later she loses herself, caring only about what other people think of her and on meeting the demands and expectations of high society.CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: He has been cheated and believes that marriage is not for him. With his Scottish burr, he becomes a recluse and no longer smiles or enjoys life; all because of the women referred to by his brothers and one sister as, "Franci... mores' damned wife"WHAT I LIKED: Enough pages to read and read and to really read as in reading a book. YAY. Leaves something to the imagination WITHOUT the sexual overload found in many romance fiction books.WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Monotonous reminders of her difficulty in returning to the person she was earlier in her life. I also knew where each overall transition in the story was going without details...."Well gee, no surprise there. I knew where that one was going". TYPICAL ROMANCE STUFF:Well guess what !!!! NO cunts; NO his shaft; NO his groin; NO concentration on virginity. YES...some tongue trailing across the body but nothing heavy. More STORYLINE than "sexual acts". FOUR of Five stars.
review 2: When eve has her season no one has made a big impression on her. Until a chance encounter on the street leads right to the man that light her fire. One ball later and a few stolen moment in the garden later she has hope for the future with this man. That's until she finds that her dad has already announced her engagement to another man she knows. Six years later her husband dies and she's freed. The man she married not even close to a loving man. He was mean, oppressive and even abusive. He had molded her willful nature in to perfection, leaving little of her own self left at all. When he dies she struggles to find her self once more. All the stars align when she visits a friend to help prepare for a ball. The man she would have married 6 year prior is reintroduced and all the passion and love picks up right where it left off.The only problem is can she shake of all of her late husband rules to finally be happy? less

A nice light historical romance romp. The series of 3 novels helps to round out the characters.
