review 1: This was one of the best "Miss Julia" books yet. Wintery roads and slippery sidewalks cause havoc on a daily basis as Miss Julia negotiates life without breaking a hip, freezing to death while spying on her suspicious neighbors, getting a very pregnant Hazel Marie to the hospital, and trying to solve a murder very close to home. Julia must also look at letting go of the remaining iciness in her own heart as she realizes that to truly be in a marriage a spouse must share, be inclusive and kind to make a true life partner with her husband.
review 2: I've been a fan of the "Miss Julia" series by Ann B. Ross since it read the first one. I love spending time with her and watching her grow, though well into her adult years, after years of oppression by her first (now... more dead) husband. Not only is her growth fun to see, but how she works to maintain being a proper Southern woman while becoming a modern woman is so fun to see.In this book, the mystery is less traditional and more societal. Miss Julia faces the birth of her deceased husband's mistress' twins in the midst of a raging snowstorm. (And if you want clarification on the twin's mother's status - you just have to read the book, or better yet the series.)In addition to dealing with a set of newborns and all the normal upheaval to a household their arrival brings, Miss Julia is worried about her relationship with her current husband and the death of someone she used to know at a home not far from her own.If you are looking for a light series that makes you smile and occasionally laugh out loud, then I recommend this book and series. less
