review 1: Take What You Want is book 2 in the Rock God Series by Ann Lister. It tells the story of Alex, Chase and Danni and their journey of not only finding themselves but also finding themselves together. Chase always knew something was missing in his life, like a missing part of him that he was too scared to explore and accept. He knew he was different and not only needed the love and affection of a woman but craved the masculine and rough touch of a man. In love with Danni for so many years and planning their upcoming wedding Chase’s life takes a turn when Alex is thrown into his life and makes him question and acknowledge the ache that has been present in his life for many years.Alex “Zander” Metcalf is taking a break from life after his bands tour raps up and decide... mores to hide out and get some much needed quiet time at a rented beach house in Martha Vineyard. Alex is done with love and over commitment, having his heart broken more than once he knows that the life he wants with both a man and a woman is not conventional and after that lifestyle not working out for him before he decides he will guard his heart and not let himself fall again, until he meets the property manager and everything he thought he wanted was thrown out the window.With Danni out of the state for more Pilates training for 2 months she can sense that something is wrong with Chase, something is off. After his want for men was discovered Danni knows this is something he needs to explore if they want to make their future work. There is something about Alex that Chase can’t shake, he can feel the chemistry and heat that flows between them and after a heart to heart with Danni she tells Chase to do it, to take what he wants, and this is where their story begins.Ann Lister can write one hell of a steamy novel that is filled with love, sex, and rock n’ roll. She can take a normal relationship and turn it into something addicting, something that can’t be put down until its been devoured. Alex and Chase separate are hot, but Alex and Chase together are hot enough to burn, and it burns so good. Their chemistry could be felt right off the bat and I couldn’t get enough of it. Chase is unsure at first, not really looking to take what he craves because he knows it will forever change him. Alex wants Chase and he is willing to risk his heart again in order to get him. He knows that Chase also comes with Danni and he is okay with that. He has always wanted a ménage relationship and has always craved the love of a woman and a man, but never thought it could happen twice in a lifetime. Could this be his chance?I loved the story between Chase and Alex, I knew the moment that Alex and Chase started to feel more than just heated chemistry between them. They were fun and intriguing to read about. I loved how Alex helped Chase discovery and accept who he really was. Alex gave his heart to Chase knowing that he had the power to obliterated it. Chase had a future with Danni, a marriage that was just right around the corner and he knew that he couldn’t force a relationship with the three of them on Danni, it had to come naturally but he felt so strongly towards Chase that he was willing to risk his heart and sanity to finally have the relationship he always wanted.When Danni came back this is when the tension and truth came out to play. This is when Ann took her writing genius and turned this into a story of acceptance and angst. Danni didn’t think this would be a continuing thing for Chase, she really thought that once it was out of his system that he would have filled that urge and they would go back to their lives, but she never expected for Alex to take root into Chase’s life the way he did. I liked Danni but my heart was broken for Chase and Alex when she came back to Martha’s Vineyard because with her back Chase and Alex couldn’t really have what they wanted while she was away.Ann told one hell of a story of acceptance after Danni came back. There was drama and angst that left me breathless. Danni was hurt because she felt like she wasn’t enough for Chase, but Chase is different. He will always love Danni and is a very dedicated character and would never risk what they had in order to have the love of Alex too. Alex was very noble in his decision that he would walk away before he caused the break up of Danni and Chase. The characters were very easy to love and Ann not only pulled you in with the storyline but also with the dynamics of the characters. I didn’t know exactly how this story would end because one moment everything was running smoothly and the next everything was turned upside down.The steamy scenes were very steamy and the sweet moments, sweeter than chocolate. I would recommend having an extra pair of panties to change into because Chase, Alex and Danni sure know how to melt the panties right off of you. Will Alex finally have the relationship he craves with a man and a woman and them all love each other equally or will Danni not be able to accept Alex and fall in love with him too leaving him shattered again? Will Chase finally fill that void that has been present in his life for so long in with the love of Alex or will he have to walk away from the only man he has ever loved because the one he promised his future too is not able to feel for Alex what Chase felt that very first day? Ann I loved Take What You Want. Alex and Chase turned my body temperature up a few degrees and the struggle that Danni went through kept me flipping the pages. You did an amazing job on book2 in the this series and I can’t wait to read more. Coop and Jayson are up next and I am very excited about this.
review 2: I absolutely loved this book, I was completely engrossed in the story and characters from the first page. A story of three people exploring their love for each other and realising that there is no normal when it comes to relationships.Alex leaves his stage persona behind and heads to the coast to relax after a long tour with his rock band. The last thing Alex expected was to find himself falling for the engaged estate manager. Chase has been attracted to men before but has never acted on his feelings, confused by the way he responds to Alex he struggles to remain true to his fiancée Danni. Danni knows that Chase has developed feelings for a man, can their relationship survive or will she also succumb to Alex's devilish charms too.I loved the characters, I felt maybe there could've been a little more Danni. I'm looking forward to reading any more instalments in this series. less
