review 1: Irritated with myself that I did not recall having read this book previously and probably was not enthused about it at the time since back then I did not go back to read the first two which I have recently done in 2014. Oh well. What does this have to do with this book? Simply, I think the rendering to be labored. I know my library has the book that came after this third, so I will take the time to sit down and read a bit at library prior to deciding to check it out or not. I think the letters to her sister probably irritate me -- besides the strange independent thinking that goes against her own interests (preferring being a "guest" of her sister-in-law in a cold attic vs accepting Mr. Lomax?). Not likely.
review 2: Another good book in the series. This time D... moreido finds herself in the middle of a mystery at a neighbors estate. During renovations, a pond is drained and the body of the estate's governess, thought to have mysteriously disappeared 15 years ago, is found. The coronor rules it a suicide, however the lady of the estate to whom the governess used to care for knows it could not be and convinces Dido to discovery the truth. less
