review 1: I checked out the first three books in this series of Miss Dido Kent and must admit I ended it with a smile. I was irritated a few times during the reading but decided it was author's intention to authenticate time period. Did ladies not know of men preferring men over women? Perhaps not, but for lady who is presented as intelligent in her observations? Oh well. I shall carry on with series and see more of Miss Dido Kent.
review 2: I found it hard to immerse myself fully in the story, and for a Brit, the word 'shrubbery' has many comedic connotations so I was half expecting it to be just that - a murder mystery along the lines of a Donna Andrews novel! Having said that, it was an easy, quick read and I have the second in the series already on my book shelf so I... more will give that a go and see how I feel about Dido take two...... less
