review 1: This mystery series is billed for fans of Jane Austen. Personally, I would have preferred a work by Jane Austen. I found the characters and the plot quite tedious. The letters written by Miss Dido and set in italics annoyed me. Her thoughts could have been written in a more skillful manner. The best thought I have is I finished reading the book because I wanted to know how the mystery was solved. I don't plan to read others in this series.
review 2: This is the second of 3 Dido Kent books and, as with the other 2, it has a plot somewhat lifted from Jane Austen. Imagine the plot thread in Emma, with Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax. except that the Frank character is accused of helping his sickly aunt to die earlier, so that he can marry. I like Dido Kent as
... more a character but I did not like how this story played out; none of it rang true, except maybe the end. less

Great Regency mystery! Keeps you guessing, plus a very intelligent heroine.
