review 1: I really loved this book. I normally don't enjoy non fiction novels that much, but I loved this one! I am 14, just a year older than Jubie, and really liked being able to see what it was like to be a 13 year old white girl in the segregated south. It let me have a new perspective and view of that time period. How she acts and how she is treated is so different from how teenagers act nowadays. It's a beautiful book full of emotion and different perspectives. though the ending was a tiny bit disappointing, but the book as a whole is a must read!

Overall, the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I found the ending cleared itself up too neatly for such a tumultuous time. But aside from that, I was very interested to know how Jubie's story would turn out. less
