review 1: A very enjoyable paleontology-based romp. There's a sentence you don't get to type enough. Really enjoyed the push-pull between the heroes, and the background was hugely convincing and interesting. Lots of humour, lots of banter, liked the punch in the face to start with, all great stuff. I didn't quite buy in to Boner's plot role. Liked him as a character but there seemed to be a rather nebulous quality to what he was there for, in plot terms, so that didn't quite spring into focus for me. And I felt the external threat could have been bigger or more menacing, it kind of slid out of sight in the middle of the book. Quibble, quibble. I really enjoyed this and will be looking out for others by this author!
review 2: I really enjoy this one and love Nick's engagi... moreng voice. Nick is a very likable character with his passion for his work and deep loyalty for his friends. Hunter, Nick's love interest, who seems a bit of a mystery in the beginning is just as likable even if I am a bit surprised that Hunter turned out to be such a sweet hunk. Nick is the more complex character but it could be because it is Nick's narration and the writer has done such a great job at it. The supporting cast of characters are a solid bunch. Besides the romance I also like that the writer has taken the effort to show us the touching friendship between Nick and Boner. The romance between Nick and Hunter is nicely developed and at the end convincing and sweet. Their is a well done "enemies to lovers" theme. The setting of the story detailing the digs for dinosaurs is also refreshing and interesting adding to the enjoyment of the story, supplemented by the little mystery as their digs were sabotaged. And for once I did not skip any sex scene because it is the right number and length! I really enjoy the writing and my only little niggle is this story could have 50 pages more because it seems to be over too soon. Maybe it is because I enjoy it so much. less
