review 1: I've only read one other book from this author, Liberating Lacey, but that's going to change. I feel confident that I can count on her to deliver a great, sexy, emotionally complex read. I should say though that I didn't love this book at first. It was very sexy, but I was frustrated by Ben and not sure I wanted to stick it out. Many other reviewers had said similar things, but also said that it was worth keeping on, and I have to agree. I stopped about halfway through the book and read something else, but then I picked it up again and blew through the rest. Rachel was a unique character and well worth reading about, and the author did a beautiful job with Ben's transformation towards the end of the book. She took a risk in making him so cold and contained at the beginning... more, but I think she more than makes up for it with the guy we see by the end.
review 2: Great story about a former sheltered heroine that's far from being naïve and a cop that lives on the edge willing to bring her up to speed with her sexuality with no strings attached. Both Ben and Rachel are strong-willed and likable with the storyline being unique and has a balance of hot and sweet. The secondary characters round out this romance that doesn't start in a conventional way but finds a connection between these two that neither one can let go of. I like this authors voice and plan to read more from her. less

Rachel Hill is probably one of the best female characters I've ever read about in NA.
