review 1: Using the Old Testament story told in Genesis 16-21 about Hagar and her mistreatment at the hands of Sarah, Anne Graham Lotz shows us how easily and frequently God's people wound each other. Whether the wounding is intentional or unintentional, it hurts. We wonder "Where is God?," "Why did He allow this to happen?," and even "What is He going to do about it?" Lotz addresses these questions in a comforting, personal expose of the scriptures. Sharing personal details from her past, Lotz easily relates to the reader and their whirlwind of confusion, turmoil, and anger when God's people wound each other. Dealing with my own deeply personal wounding by one of God's own, Lotz helped me to understand the bigger picture - how God can and will work out all the pain for His Glo... morery and our best.
review 2: This is not a book just for those wounded by God's people. It's for any Christ follower who's been wounded. I love how the author uses Hagar's story to correlate to our own lives today - when we're in the pit of despair, hopelessness, loneliness, shame......It's a reminder that we're not alone. God sees us. He hears us. And Anne eloquently turns this around to help us get a fresh perspective. less

Great book!! It especially touched me because I was wounded by God's people...but, not by God!
