review 1: This was just okay - a fun read, really interesting about the smoke jumpers and the team, but too many other holes and minor personal annoyances to put this in the upper echelon of enjoyment for me. The whole medical heart condition, which I have to assume she lied about not only to get her jump certification but to be a part of the hot shot team (which is a criminal offense, I think, but am not sure and don't care enough to research myself, so there's that), and bravo for Rio for being pissed about it, but then he's like oh well. Also, the whole finding the drug ring thing during the fire was close to jumping the shark for me - I could get into the idea, but it just fell somewhat flat in the execution here. Sexy, though.
review 2: This is Rio’s story and it�... more��s my favorite so far. Each book stands alone – no cliffhanger.I loved this book. In the previous books Rio is a bad boy – no commitments, love ‘em and leave ‘em – and loves the ladies. Things really change in this story. The book starts out with a heart pounding sequence with Rio in real danger. That really got my attention and the book was pretty much non-stop action of one sort or another from then on.Gia Jackson is a new addition to the Donovan Brother’s smoke jumping team. She is very capable but is careful to keep everyone thinking she is one of the boys. Rio is making that difficult for her; she wants him. Gia also has a couple of secrets but one of them didn’t factor into the story quite as much as I thought it might.There are major sexy times in this book so if hot stuff and somewhat liberal use of f**k bother you, you might want to skip this one. I don’t feel the language was inappropriate. These books are about men who work hard, play hard and love and protect their women.If you like reading about hot, sexy fireman and their families you should really enjoy this book.I was not compensated in any way (no ARC received) for this review. less
