review 1: Anne Mateer has created a book that combines a fascinating glimpse of history, a satisfying romance, and a genuine spiritual journey. By the end of the book, I was assured that the heroine had found not only the right man for her, but the right path for the rest of her life. My only quibble is that she seemed remarkably obtuse about figuring out the true characters of Mr. Right and Mr. Wrong, but even that kept me engrossed as I berated her for her stupidity. Plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep the pages turning, and some truly lovely characters, especially the grandmother.
review 2: What an exciting novel! I thoroughly enjoyed At Every Turn! I loved how it was written in the first person, that was very refreshing and different from the typical third
... more person books I've been reading. The author portrayed in beautiful detail Alyce's passion for God and for the mission in Africa she so boldly pledged three thousand dollars to. I loved that about this character. Alyce's passion for spreading God's Word throughout the world was a main theme through the whole book and left my heart feeling very full. It is very hard, putting on paper exactly what a character feels in their heart but this author did an incredible job of making her readers truly feel what Alyce felt and understand just how full of love her heart was for the people in Africa who didn't know Jesus. The love triangle was interesting and at times frustrating (because of course we all want her to end up with Webster from the start ;) ), but it gave me even more reason to keep reading. I didn't want to put this book down! I loved the races, the strength of our heroine and the lesson she learns at the end. It was well written and simply lovely. Looking forward to reading more from this author! less

Great book. I loved her independent spirit as well as the gospel truths weaved into the story.
