review 1: Unfortunately, I didn't really connect with this book. The synopsis intrigued me and I liked the sample enough to go ahead and buy the book. As soon as I picked up where the sample ended it seemed to change a bit. It immediately changes into Ana and Blake having to take care of his sister's (tiny army) of kids and pets as she races to her husband's side after an accident. Immediately we find out he's ok and she returns to get them a day or two later. Since I read the rest of the book, I do know that this wasn't the primary focus of the book, but that shift was unexpected and it's not my favorite type of storyline. For most of the book Ana avoids telling Blake that she's the owner of the home restoration business that is part of the larger hardware store his company is taki... moreng and plans to do away with. I'm not a fan of an extremely stubborn character and constant lack of communication for an entire book. She also ran out on him when they were roommates in college when her mom got sick the morning after they slept with each other. Surely she could have left a note or called him over the past 8 years - didn't she owe him rent? By the end of the book I started skimming. I hate that I didn't take to the story as I really enjoyed the synopsis and beginning.
review 2: I enjoyed this light, heart-felt story. It was fast paced but filled with just the right amount of sassy and sweet talking. Anastasia and her two best friends have their own home restoring business, working out of the local hardware store. When the store is being sold, the girls jobs are on the line. Blake enters in as the manager of the soon to be bought store and memories resurface for them of their past together. I really liked the small town touch, makes me remember my own small home town. less
