Kat’s Thoughts:
UPDATE 10/2/17: These have been discontinued by Capezio/Bunheads and have been replaced with a different hair tie.
Original Post 12/4/2013:
One thing that is absolutely, bar-none, essential for every dancer to have it a good supply of sturdy hair elastics. Ones that give, but not too much. Ones that stretch so they’re gentle on your hair, but not ones that remain stretched out. Oh–and no irritating fastener on them either. I must say–after using a single package of Bunheads’ elastics (for both me and my three year old), I’m really LOVING them. I used to have long hair and got it cut short last summer, and used to go through lots and lots of elastics. They’d only end up lasting me about a week. Until these. The Bunheads ones stretch but retain most of their original shape and size. They’re glued on the ends (no metal fastener) and are also dyed to match hair colors. Yup you guessed the color options–blonde, light brown (also with a red tone), medium brown, and black. They’re now my go-to elastics for both me and my daughter (and we’re STILL on the first package–6 months+ now of use)! $1.70 for 6 of them.

*A note about prices – while the MSRP is listed – it is just that. Please remember that your local dance store also has to cover shipping costs, lights, rent, other utilities, and oh yeah – HUMANS! When you go into a local dance store – please realize that you are possibly paying a premium for their expertise, knowledge, and having (most) products there on hand. That’s not cheap. Please don’t go “window shopping” there only to save a few bucks. Especially on products under $100, it’s really not worth it. Support your local store. Please. When you do, you validate why we have physical stores and why we, as store owners, dedicate ourselves to providing you with products and knowledge we can stand behind.
