review 1: I picked up this book knowing nothing about the author because I like fairies - and I was pleasantly surprised! The story reminded me of a modern spy/thriller, but with fairy intrigue. I guessed the outcome fairly early on, but the story was so much fun to read, I didn't mind. The characters are sexy and intelligent and the sex is hot enough to make a reader squirmy. Will probably read the next book in the series.
review 2: Okay, so some time ago I had read this book, but had completely forgotten what it was about. That being said I can understand why I did. Plot wise, its a good idea. On a closer look at the characters, not so much. So you have Aislinn, a woman who is growing bored with what's going on in her life and have a dark secret. Then there is Gabriel... more, a man who claims to be bored, wants something different and has nothing but rumors and gossip following his every step. So of course that's our romantic couple! Pretty much the whole book he's trying to seduce her and she isn't having it because of a bad and rather public break up from a man named Kendal. Yes, I know its hard to get over a break up, even more when you love them, but come on, give it a break, public embarrassment should cure all sorts of "oh but I loved him" feelings! Which she does know and completely ignores. So Gabriel over here is trying to seduce her he falls her and she begins to as well. All typical...if you ignore the whole knowing each other for a week thing. Things don't pick up until the end of that week and then it gets good. Then when all the action stops she goes back to the whole "but he's a womanizer" compliant. One last action part and then boom everything is right with the world and everyone gets the happy moment. I just love romance. less
