review 1: I'm pretty satisfied of this conclusion. It was a bit open ended, but good none the less. Not as good at the first book though. My favorite part is the writing and the atmosphere. It's very beautiful and poetic and dark and intense. It made the scenes feel more real and memorable. It was pretty creepy at times but not nearly as creepy as the first book. The characters in this book felt kind of distant to me. I never really got attached to any of them, but then again this book is more about the story than the characters. I don't like the love story. I'm very pro-River. I didn't like that she fell for his brother and I wish we could've seen more of the real River in this book. I don't really had much to say, but the plot was amazing and I was always on the edge of my seat. I... more loved reading Freddie's diary and finding out more about the past. This was overall a pretty good book, but I didn't like it as much as the first one.
review 2: I wasn't that impressed with this book as the first. Frankly after 3/4 of the book it began to become a chore to read and was dragging considerably. I couldn't relate to the characters and I can truthfully say I saw the twist coming...finch always seemed too good to be true. I believe the ending was the worst; its was tying up of loose ends but haphazardly and almost lazily. It's seems like the author just wanted to finish the story as soon as possible.I definitley would not recommend this book to someone as although I thoroughly enjoyed the first book ...this was a disappointing ending less
