review 1: Although this book is purported to be the 1st in a series, there were numerous characters introduced with no real explanation of their connection to the main characters. Who are these people? Once I got into the story I enjoyed it. The main character, Mercy Watts, reminded me of Stephanie Plum. There was humor, grief, suspense and a semi-decent mystery. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to read further installments in the series unless they are free (as this one was).
review 2: This is my first time reading an A.W. Hartoin book and I very much enjoyed every second of it. I love cozy mysteries and this one ranks at the top of my list of good reads. I was engaged with the story and characters throughout - and these characters; fun, quirky, endearing an
... mored memorable. How cool to have the main character be a "Marilyn" look alike! Nice job on the characters A.W.! Without a doubt, I will be putting more of this author's books on my reading list. less
