review 1: I didn't give it one star because despite finding this book clumsily written and lacking in so many ways, it did keep me wanting to finish it rather than immediately returning it to the library. The most annoying aspect of this book is the fact that it's filled with female characters and it's written by a man. I kept thinking, this character is a shallow man's fantasy of what women are all about. The female characters were one-dimensional, not believable, and I couldn't relate to them one iota. The male protagonist is unlikable - and I kept transferring that dislike to my feelings about the author. Let's hope the author is truly not so wimpy, alcoholic, and false.
review 2: I liked this book because of how i felt at the end vs the way i felt throughout. I
... moreliked the ending a lot. I liked Peter and Emily's transformations in the book. Peter was living a very inauthentic life and Emily was too. I liked how their lives became more true and hence happier. It made a positive statement about how some people are better fits and help us make happier marriages and you can be in a marriage but it isn't necessarily happy or based in love. less

It was amusing enough to finish but not earth shatteringly good.
