review 1: I absolutely loved this book. I thought the plot and setting in space was so unique and interesting. The characters were great too! Their were several issues with scientific accuracy and plot loopholes that kind of bothered me. But, since it is juvenile fiction, I let them go. I highly recommend this book for someone who likes science fiction and a fast moving plot. The deep issues involving a rape and a season of lust in the population kept me from recommending it to my avid middle school reader. But, for a high schooler and older - it's got a lot of depth and action.
review 2: I loved the idea of this book a lot. The whole cryogenically frozen in space for three hundred years thing is awesome!! I just wish that there was more depth to the characters, an
... mored particularly the relationship between Amy and Elder. I'm a massive fan of slow build romances, and Elder instantly falling in love with Amy (because she was beautiful) and his sudden will to do anything he can in the universe for her, despite never having believed in love in the first place was kind of fabricated to me. It wasn't a terrible book by any means, extremely readable. I got through it in about a day...I just wish I had loved the characters a little more. Not to mention that the villain was extremely obvious, and I wish there had been more subtlety and mystery. Also, Harley was my fave :(That being said, I'm definitely going to read the rest in the series. I do genuinely want to see how they fare after the events of this book! less

Absolutely terrible. YA fiction deserves better. Nothing but stereotypes and dull reading.
