Daughters of the Promise
review 1: A troubled young woman named Lillian escapes her unhappy, worldly life and goes to stay with her Amish grandparents whom she has seen only a few times in her life. She is very unhappy and has to make some important decisions about her life and future. There is also an Amish man named Samuel who has some grief recovering and soul searching of his own to do. In addition, there are some grandparents an estranged daughter (Lillian's mother) and some other characters. The story itself is not a big and full of surprises, but contains lots of thoughts about life and living. Very clean in terms of language, sex and violence. Worth the read.
review 2: This was my first Amish novella that I've read in years. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not.Big surprise. I was i
... moremmediately drawn in and the characters were memorable. I loved the story line and the surprises along the way. I laughed a couple of times and then some parts pulled at my heart strings. I teared up when the grandmother passed away. Absolutely a beautiful story of how being friends first can bring on romance in unexpected places.I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Amish stories or who just loves a good Christian romance. I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this book and look forward to reading other books by her. less

Plain and simple. Ends like the first book in a series, though.
