review 1: This series has real science demonstrations kids can do, tied into the ongoing story of Nick and Tesla's adventures. This first book introduces to mystery series with a strong Science based story line. The two tweens featured in the book are sent to live their Uncle, and almost immediately they find a mystery to solve. They create simple engineering and science demonstrations to help them solve the mystery. This is available as an ebook, I read it on a android phone.
review 2: This is a Black Eyed Susan nominee and I'll be interested on how it goes over to my 4th and 5th graders. It has a lot of directions for fun science based experiments/gadgets interspersed with the story of 11 year old twins who are shipped to their crazy (as in Mad Scientist) uncle for th... moree summer. Their parents were sent on an unexpected trip to eastern Europe supposedly on an agricultural mission although that comes into question. As Nick and Tesla fend for themselves (since their uncle is definitely not the nurturing type) they are drawn into a mystery involving an abandoned house in the neighborhood. less
