review 1: I like "Mated to the wolf" a whole lot better than the first episode of The Ancients. At a time, I even wondered if it was written by the same author.The hero had more strength, the heroin had more fire and the sex scenes were really hot, especially those... with the demon, my favourites.Still, the story is a little short, so I find it hard to believe, with books this length, that the main characters always fall in love (and in sex) so quickly. But then, why not.Not unforgettable, but enjoyable.
review 2: Setting: apartment in Kansas to bar in Colorado to Society headquarters to Grayson’s mountain homes in Colorado.Theme: Truth, love, integration of bad and good side of one’s natureCharacters:Grayson Adler – a lone wolf, kicked out of his Pack; an Ancient... more empath; bounty hunter by direction of the Society to take down those uses their magic against humans; lonely; assigned to take Samantha in, and he finds he is very attracted to her Samantha Fuller – one of triplets of a fallen angel and a demon… 8 years earlier she witnessed her parent’s deaths at the hands of a hunter – and she heard her mother gasp , “no Jerome Cabot” so Samantha vowed vengeance against him. The night is cloudy in her mind, she was afraid, she feels guilty for not trying to step in and protect her parents, and at the end she did attack the hunter, cutting his face. At age of 21, the demon side erupts in each of the twins… and Samantha is embracing her demon side to fulfill her promise of vengeance against Jerome – she tortured a fairy (cutting off his wings) to find out where Jerome is… she doesn’t have control of her demon (when a man at the bar doesn’t take no for an answer she causes his pants to flame… but then her angel side apologizes and takes away the pain)Mr. & Mrs. Fuller – Samantha’s parents… when a child serial killer is let go by the courts, demon dad kills him… and the Society orders his demise. Before evil Jerome can do so and do so painfully to take their powers, Grayson takes care of it… and fallen angel mom begs to be taken also, to keep Jerome away from her and her power and to not be alone.Jerome Cabot – Pack alpha; hunter – but a bad hunter in that he kills the subject slowly to draw their powers into himself… when Grayson kills Anderson Stamos, director for the Society for the Elimination of Malevolent Magick –Summary:An interesting blending of the demon and angel, of the bad and good… Grayson captures Samantha (but his old pack knows he’s in the neighborhood – and he has to knock out one of their enforcers)… and then told he must mate with her, and absorb her demon through sex… or else in 24 hours, an implant will explode in her, weaken her and make her vulnerable to other hunters.And Grayson is patient, seductive, and explains things to her and leaving it up to her – he gets her to talk some about herself, but is very stingy about information about himself… He takes her to his cabin… he goes out to run as wolf (when he thinks she’s sleeping)… and she tries to escape, but is only cold… she does scratch him with her poison, demon claw… but then he takes her home, warms her up in his bed (both naked of course : ) … and they have sex… and she wakes to realize that her demon part is gone, and she feels empty and angry… before they can have it out he is aware that his pack is approaching and they have to hide… he takes her away from the cabin, to his magically hidden cabin a few miles away… and along the way he has pain… and goes into the woods without her, screams and returns… he is split – good Grayson is back at the cabin, weakened (kinda like the good Captain Kirk) and the bad one is with Samantha.At the cabin he overwhelms her with rougher sex than they had before… and even pushes her into sex while an anal plug is in place… it takes her a bit, but she realizes that her cut/poison of the night before has split him, and that he (and she) needs both sides to function… she teases him back to the first cabin with the desire to have sex with the two of them together… and his good side (which is dying) realizes why she is there… they both make love to her, and when the bad one finds fulfillment in her anus, the good one and herself blast their power into him, drawing the bad one back into the good one (and Samantha takes back her demon side)… but then Jerome and pack is there, and they are both immobilizes by a magic smoke bomb… she learns the truth about her parents’ deaths… she accepts Grayson’s explanation… they take her outside so that Jerome can kill her slowly and take her power… Grayson tells her she has unique powers and can overcome him… and she realizes she not only has her demon powers, but she also has some of Grayson’s power… and she binds each of the weres, she absorbs their evil and releases it out… and returns to Grayson, his strength is back and he is healing… and she is acknowledged as able to control her demon, and to be mated to Grayson. ahhhh less
