review 1: this book ticked most of my like boxes ..... growls check, furry creatures check, voluptuous girl check and even a cowboy check check check..... hot mating check. what was missing was the history, back story, Lupine folk law. I love furry creatures books.... each one has a different take on shifter ..... this one including myths and mythical creatures..... I found it a easy read, just not sure if I love it enough to go back for more.
review 2: I got this book as part of the Dark and Dangerous, Six-in-One Hot Paranormal Romances Boxed Set. This is the second book int he Werewolves of Montana series.I feel like I should start by saying that paranormal isn't really my thing because I have a problem grasping all the otherworldly mythological creatures. I was drawn ... moreto this boxed set of paranormal stories because of the erotic aspect of them. If you're REALLY into the paranormal stuff, you might like this story more than I did.I DID like this story in the romantic aspect. I loved Arianna and Kyle and wanted nothing but good things for them. They were both troubled from horrible childhoods, but they were both unbelievably good and in love with each other. You've read the synopsis, so I won't repeat it, but I REALLY enjoyed these two working past both of their personal bullshit. Ari had been kidnapped (or lupine-napped) as a child and held as a sexual prisoner and tormented, thus leading her to have some pretty serious sexual fears. Kyle was a hybrid and had been ousted from his childhood pack and branded as a deviant. After Ari escaped her captor, Kyle found her and vowed to always protect her. Now that it's time for her to mate, he wants nothing more than for her to be happy. So he's struggling with controlling his overwhelming sexual magnetism toward her because he understands her sexual fears and would rather die than scare her.A lot of other shit happens with wizards, ogres, satyrs, and black magic. That's the part of the story that I could have done without. I'm good with vampires and werewolves, and I can even handle witches sometimes, but the other mythological creatures are just a bit too much for me. I do like added drama to enhance the romantic aspect of a story and create conflict between the couple and this story definitely had PLENTY of outside drama. It was just that the paranormal drama was not so much to my liking.I would be interested in reading the first book in this series, but I don't know about any subsequent books in the series. The ending was sort of left open for a potential paranormal species war of sorts, maybe, and that just isn't really my thing. But this story is good. The sex is hot and successfully got my juices pumping which is all I can really ask of an erotic story. And the story held my interest and wasn't a struggle. less
