review 1: This series was really easy to fall in love with! I loved Quinn and thought she was a very well balanced character. She's close to her family, fiercely loyal to her friends, and down-right relate-able! I loved her interactions with the boys! Zander, William, and Thomas are all very fun and intriguing in their own ways! I think I marathoned both of these books in one sitting..not really, but it felt like it! I have to say that the first book was awesome, but the second one was ridiculously good! This series has definitely found a fan! I cannot wait to see what else is going to happen! I'm keeping my eye out for more of The Dusk Gate Chronicles!
review 2: So good.Like before, I love how important all the little children are to everyone. Eirentheos and Philot
... moreheum are basic, but believable. In this book we get to see a little more medical practice and terms from Will and Nathaniel. Quinn's Colorado nativeness comes out a bit more in fishing and tent camping.I do love the gallantry/chivalry of the Eirentheans. They're always so courteous, wanting to make sure Quinn's okay and comfortable. Not just men, but the women, too. Their hospitality is so fine. And, oh joy! We find out so much about the characters and how they're really all connected. I have many suspicions.Yay, the aging question was answered!A few things bugged me. One, the other-world names are so dull. Sarah? Tom? Jeremiah? Ellen? Henry? Simon? Charles? Stephen? Will? The only interesting ones are Tolliver and Gianna and Graeme. Two, it needed a bit more editing. A few paragraphs were arranged or split confusingly, and a few times there weren't enough dialogue tags. A few typos, but nothing too distracting. The biggest one? Minor spoiler here, but Quinn kisses THREE boys in the space of less than a week. Most of the time she's an admirable protagonist, even when she's panicking. But this whole romance thing is ridiculous. less
