review 1: Jack with a Twist was a pretty good book and I was able to read/follow without having read the first in the series. I don't know that I fell in love with Brooke or Jack. Brooke, while funny as hell, was a pretty whiny character who didn't seem to even care that much about working, so why she decided to go balls to the wall against her fiance didn't really jive with me. Jack was OK, though he should have made it a point to TALK to Brooke before everything spiraled out of control rather than inundating her with useless work. All in all, it was just an OK read, nothing spectacular but not bad either.
review 2: I probably liked this as much as the first one, but I guess I'm not seeing where else she could go with it. Much like the last book, there were writing qui... morerks and character flaws that annoyed, but I got through them. I can wait for her next book for a while, though. I was a little disappointed in Jack, but a lot of the issue was with Brooke herself, not trusting that he really loved her. I think I'm a little sick of books set in NYC, though. I understand that, in a city of millions, there are a LOT of stories to tell, but I guess I'm just tired of reading them right now. Mostly because it seems like I'm always reading stories about the people who have a lot, and their stories get old after a while. The bit I probably liked most was the fact that Vanessa looked like Halle Berry and the silliness that ensued because of that (in the tabloids). Clever. In the end, it was a pretty decent story, and I'm not sorry I read it. less
