review 1: The character was so annoying I honestly could not stand reading about her. She is so indecisive and confusing (sometimes that's good in character), but she never overcome anything. She is the first character I have read in a book that I honestly don't know what to say about her other than the fact that she has a very questionable IQ. Also her "love triangle" wasn't even a great one.. if you read the book you would understand. The most interesting thing I liked about this book was her relationship with her family. I think I am going to give this to my 14 year old cousin to see from a younger perspective. Lets just say.. I will not continue on with this series.
review 2: Book Review-The Emerald Talisman by Brenda PandosJulia is in high school and has a special ab
... moreility. She can feel the emotions of the people around her. She knows who is being truthful, scared, happy and even angry. She is constantly bombarded by emotions. No one knows she has the ability, not even her father or brother. After her mother’s disappearance she is afraid to worry her father more. One night while coming home from work, her car runs out of gas and she is forced to abandon it. She decides to take a short cut through the woods. All of a sudden she feels something stalking her. She runs and trips over the edge of a cliff. She is hanging by a branch calling for help. She still feels the hungry feelings of whatever is stalking her. Finally the voice of a boy calls down to her and then she hears the sounds of a fight above her. When she can’t hold on any longer, she falls. However, she is surprised to be caught by the owner of the mysterious voice, Nicholas. He carries her home.Julia’s life changes after that. She is thrust into a world of evil that she naively thought didn’t exist. She learns of her mother’s fate and what her role is to be in the coming conflicts. The idea of this book and the plot that evolved were right up my alley. I loved the mystery, the vampires and the role Julia plays. However, I don’t like Julia’s character. She came off across as spoiled and stubborn at times. Then at other times gave up too easily. I had a hard time believing her. I think I would have liked the book better if I liked the main character more. I really want to see where the author takes the story and I hope she makes Julia more mature as the story continues. I give it a 3 out of 5. less
