review 1: Dark woods, a creepy basement, an angry old boiler, bunny rabbits with red eyes, an old tree house, and a young boy, all characters in this haunting tale of childhood fears. Something bad happened to Henry at the age of 9. Now Henry is married.with a young son. He is an artist, whose art is based on fears of childhood memories. This book is written in chapters from young Henry(Birth of an Artist)to Present Day Henry. It is a short read, at 171 pages, but this tale puts you in Henry's nightmares. So I recommend you read it.
review 2: The problem with reading an overly enthusiastic foreword is that it creates high expectations. Brian Keene did a great job of singing Freeman's praises to add to those on the back cover and I only wish the book sang to me the same w
... moreay. It was a fine competently written in a very lyrical style novella about a man whose imagination gets the better of him or maybe just a cautionary tale about old boilers. The art inside the book never went above just ok either. Entertaining enough and a quick read, but I can't imagine paying the $19.99 cover price for this one. less
